hollow spectra??

i am looking into possibly re-spooling my reels for my upcoming 10 dayer on the star. i am debating between hollow line one spectra and izorline hollow. they both haver their difference but yet they are both highly recommended.

i am wondering if this also comes down to a personal preference or can you guys advice on one and why??

i was also thinking of just splicing it and putting more spectra to the old spectra already on it, wondering if this is a good idea?? the old spectra is not hollow.reason for this is to fish shorter topshot.
it will be for some 50w shimano l.r.s. reels.

any advice and help will be greatly appreciated,
thanxxxx

You can go either way, but you would probable feel more comfortable with new hollow.
As far as spectra, you will be much happier with the JB Line One. It is so much easier to work with, very easy to splice and run needles or wire through it, and IMO, ITS STRONGER.

The thing about Jerry Brown is that you can call and ask him ANYTHING about spectra (amoung many topics) and he always has time to talk with you and give the answer.
A good guy, and ships very fast.

I respooled most of my reels this year with JB hollow. Of course the 30s and up should have hollow spectra, and IMHO, 100# is plenty on 30w reels, which holds about the same as a 50, which is to say a boatload of line (I have 750yds of 100 and about another 100-150 yds of 130 on top on a 30w). For a 50w, 130 JB. NOte that JB is breaking well above its stated stength this year, something like 30# more than the stated actual breaking strength (ABS). I even respooled most of my smaller reels with JB 60 hollow, which is breaking at over 95# on average. Must be white. The other colors are not as strong. Search for posts by "pametfisher" on other boards like 360tuna.com, he's done a lot of research on ABS, hollow splicing, and knots.

Yeah. JB. Jerry is the best at Customer service. My buddy bought a 1200 yard spool of 130 from Cabbagekey and it had a flaw in the middle of the spool. He called Jerry and Jerry sent him a new one. No questions asked.

I looked all over for a shop that carried and spooled the JB.... Charkbait in Hunington Beach did a great job. I used the izorline on one reel and the JB on another... Liked both but I would go with the JB when available in the future.

I ended up paying 8 cents more a yard for the JB....

Squid co down in San Diego now carries and spools the hollow izor 80# for but a mere 14 cents a yard... That's a great deal. Also buy your reel from them and they'll spool ya for free.... Great custom service as well as local knowledge shared freely.

kool, thanks for all the input.
j.b. it is and i might as well just get them all spooled up with the fresh stuff instead of splicing and adding spectra to them.
thanks
