Islander damage?

I heard that the Islander suffered significant damage from a "rogue" wave while fishing at Guadalupe. Has anyone else heard anything? I hope it is just a rumor, but it came from a good source.

I was on the boat when it happened. No rogue wave and not at Lupe. It was comming back from Cedros in 15-20 foot seas.

Maybe Jhull will chime in and tell us what the crew did wrong and how they could have prevented this damage. Hes an expert on this type of stuff.

What kind of damage was there? Has the boat been repaired? I do a 3 day trip on that boat every year. It has always been a good experience. I am very interested to hear what happened.

I also heard there was an injury of some sort that required a helicopter to airlift a passenger to safety. No details if the boat damage and the injury were related though.

Crew did nothing wrong. Weather was really rough and waves were in realy tight duration. At some times we were only giong 2 knots. If you had been out on the water last tues/wends you might have know how shity it was.. Some fiberglass pealed up on the upper bow. There was one gallon of water in the front bilge over 5 hours. Coast guard met the boat and repairs we in place. The boat is currently on a shark trip. Thats it.

It sucked. It took us 48 hours to get home from the north end of Cedros.

Oh ya....the run up through Cedros when its nasty...been there many times! One trip years ago brings back haunting memories on the Spirit.....Green water over the bridge and the rippling vibrations running from bow to stern for what seemed like 5-6 hours.
