Not hooking somebody else in the head is a great start
On a serious note Ive always encouraged the iron slingers to stick to the opposite side of the slide...iron can tangle up bait guys so quick and just make life tough. Summer of 99 I had great luck taking a boat rod with a tady 9 or ufo 5 blue and chrome and heaving it the opposite side of the boat and just letting it sink...most of the time it was bendo in a good bite and time to hand off. if i did not get bit by the time i was straight up and down (boat drifting over line) i would then crank hard and hope for one on the retrieve. Or iron of the bow is another good spot. I do believe it is poor ettiquette to walk right into the middle of a bunch of flyliners and just heave off. number one important thing i think is to watch where your at behind you. Ive had to pull a hook before from an iron guy not paying attention and it was not fun for any involved. Also when fishing hoo always make sure to let your lure whether iron or a bomb sit just above the water and do a 5 count before lifting over. A green hoo flying over the deck can be a nightmare. My paps was on a trip back in the 80's when a hoo flew into the galley on the qualifier 105 (pretty sure that was the boat) that will clear out a galley

. DoDO on the iron can be dangerous if jumping around and i prefer to see a bent rod tip toward the water if a dodo is going nutz. if the jig comes free in air its a missle
just some of my thoughts on iron...
