At this time, I do not know the answer to that. I'll be there, but working or fishing? I don't know.

Sorry to hear about the rough times David, but I am very glad that you were able to get this opportunity.

This move shows good judgment on the part of the Intrepid as well. They recognized a good opportunity and were able to snatch you up before another boat did. I have no doubt that you are already an asset to them. Not only can they boast the best boat, chef, etc., but now the best deckhand.

I hope Jenn and I can make a trip soon that you will be working on.

Fishing, working, whatever, you get to do it on the Intrepid!!!!

Maybe you can join your coworker Mike and myself when we go trolling for trout again? He always seems to be offshore when I call. David, please tell him One_leg said "Hi" when you see him.

David, My dream has become your reality. It's been ten years since ive worked long range and miss it so much that every year I contemplate quitting my job and heading back to SD. Congrats on getting back out there and I salute your for being loved by so many.

For those that have never done this kind of work I can attest he is 100% accurate describing those first days . but as time goes by the routine becomes routine the soreness becomes normal and your just out doing what you love!

Im jealous!

Dave, had a blast fishing with you and the entire crew on the Ken Bush 7 day this month. You always had a good attitude (as did everyone on the boat) and always willing to share some insight. Kevin chose wisely and that goes on the list as reason number 19,798 that I will fish the Intrepid again.

I was at my local shop in AZ, Phoenix Fishing Supply showing my pictures from our trip to Ted the rod wrapper who happened to be wrapping a SS 2x4 for some guys upcoming 10 day. I showed him your pic and some video from the Rocks and said that's David Choate. He was star struck. "You actually fished with David Choate?!" Then he went on to explain to some guy in the shop who Choate was and how the 2x4 in his hand may have never been had it not been for a certain Dave Choate and his interesting fishing style. He couldn't have been more giddy had I told him Paris Hilton was our deckhand!

We're a tight community and you rank as a celeb of sorts in it. I know you will deny it to your dying day, but I say revel in it a bit. You're the man in our world (at least one of em'). Never thought killing fish would bring admiration did you? Keep it classy buddy!

David, good to have your contributions as always. I have a question: How do you like to make your double-trouble rigs these days? Thanks...

I like to use these little rings with a wheel in the middle, I get them at Finest Kind tackle. They are made by Area Rule, and called a Magnum ring with delron grommet. Anyhow, this little wheel on the ring shields the fluoro very well, so I don't use chafing protection at that point. I slide a crimp up to keep the line wrapped around that wheel thing.

I like the two tag ends to hang down about 3 feet , I like Super Mutu 6/0 ringed hooks, and I crimp those two hooks on with chafing protection. I like the teflon tubing for chafing protection myself.

One important thing to remember when rigging double trouble: slide a 2 or 3 ounce sliding egg sinker on before you attach the double trouble rig. So the egg sinker is on the mainline up above that ring with a wheel on it.

It was a pleasure fishing with you. You cracked me up all day with that great sense of humor. Then, you say, I'm done, no more tuna fishing, only to see you bent again a half hour later

You are too kind with your comments, I'm just a regular dude who likes to catch fish, and help others catch fish.
