I strongly disagree with that Jim. I would not fish a topshot that has oxidation on the aluminum crimps.
If you have this scenario, and you do inline splices like I do, easy enough to slide a new brass crimp on (I only use brass now), about 2 inches shy of the second crimp, crimp it and glue from the second crimp to an inch past the 3rd crimp.
If you make L2Ls, undo the loop, do as I stated there, and redo your loop.
