| 6-DAY FIRST STRING 10/17 - 10/23
I'll give you guys the written version and let the guys post pics.
Day 1 fishing:
Got there around 11am. Made a couple stops and anchored up in the lower middle part of the island. This day we caught the most tuna, about 150 I think most of the day was the smaller grade stuff. It would come through time and time again and it would be pretty much wide open when they would. As the day was ending, the bigger models showed up. And so did the tax man. I would say we got taken for about 1/3 of the bigger fish hooked that evening, I know I lost at least 2. It was a tough situation, but I think that by that time everyone had a couple in the hole, so it was easier to deal with.
Day 2 fishing:
The day started off were we left it the day before. We started catching right at dawn and had a couple dozen before 8am. We finished that first round off with nice 90lber that ended up being 2nd JP. Then the fish disappeared. The wind came up and we went off looking around the south end of the island looking for yellows. That search turned up nothing and we went in search of porpoise in the evening. We found them and couldn't really get them to go. We finally hooked a couple and ending up getting only one of those, it ended up being a beast. It put up an epic battle and took 1st JP weighing in at 135lbs at the dock. We looked around a little more and called it a day and went back to the beach to spend the night.
Day 3 fishing:
Woke up to wind and it almost looked like the island was not gonna be happening anymore. We spent most of the day looking for cleaner water and just found more wind and dirty water. I can say Bradley made every effort to put us on fish, it just wasn't happening on the island. We made some attempts on some ridges to find yellows, but we just got a couple. We ended up the evening looking in the deep water hoping for some porpoise tuna in the evening. At about 6pm we found em. Our spirits went from 0-60 from the sound of Bradley yelling over the PA, throw dippers, guys get your baits in the water, we got a big school under us!!! These fish ended up all being 50-70 lbers and we had a couple hooked all the time until dark. I went 4 for 5 on these guys, and since we were off the island, we had no shark to deal with.
With the news of the hurricane to south and the wind coming from the north, the next couple of days on the island were gonna be a little crazy. Besides the weather, there was gonna be about 5 more boats showing up to make things a little crowded, we decided to go to the beach.
Days 4 and 5 Fishing:
I'll lump these together because they were pretty much the same. A couple rockfish drifts. We caught a mixed bag and rounded out some limits.
I'll let the guys fill in the gaps. I'm sure I'm missing some parts. Feel free to add to the report.

Thanks for the nice report. Sounds pretty good. I'm leaving Monday and likely gonna be dealing with some 20k north wind for a day or two Wed and Thurs. Does it shut it down and roll things over right away? Any suggestions?
Thanks

| Kick ass trip!
First of all I gotta say thanks to the crew. Brad, Scotty, Mark, Sal, and Jason's attention to detail from bait management to customer service was stellar. They were always around when you needed them and Mark strapped together a great feedbag in the galley.
Sam thanks for the great raffle. Baja Fish Gear Hooked it up! This was a great group of 19 that interacted and fished well together. First day was epic, I've been to the Lupe 6 times and that was the first time i have seen it that wide open. Sam was killing it on the surface iron!
It sucked the island rolled on the 3rd day but all considered we did well in light of the circumstances and I'm glad as hell Brad got us out of the South Swell and 30 knot North winds!
My first time on the String and won't be the last. Enjoy the pics.
