| Excell Gallagher 8 day Aug 22-30
Hey guys, was thinking of booking the gallagher 8 day on the excel next summer. Wanted a trip with a shot at wahoo and can't do a 10 day due to grad school starting in Sept. Just wondering if anyone has fished this trip and any opinions on the Excel. Saw the previous post about the boat and everyone seems to like it. Any info would be great. Thanks, Chad

I was on the Gallagher trip this year but it was a 7 day. I am rebooked on it for next year. It is a limited load, I think limited to 29? This year we had 26. It is a great group of guys. We were going to Alijos but a storm down south forced us to Guadalupe. The boat and crew are great. Its the only boat I have been on, but Fishybuzz aka David Tang enjoyed it and he is very experienced. He is coming back next year as well. Jamie Massion aka fishordie is one of the "ring leaders" on this trip. When I heard next year it was being stretched to 8 days I immediately renewed. PM me if you have other questions

The Rooster used to run a 7 day about the same time as this trip that always seemed to kill the hoo. Chad

A wahoo is my holy grail of fish. Everyone promised I would get one this year but a Cat 4 hurricane changed our plans. I was all for fishing in 135 knot winds but I was alone in my thoughts. So I am gearing up for the Gallagher trip next year. Pat Gallagher is the charter master and I think the core group of guys have been together for 8-10 years. Some of these guys, especially Jamie are wonderful and helpful fisherman. At night, they love to have a good laugh and, overall, I can't think of a better group of guys, save for this lone southern gentleman. I'm shocked they agreed to let me return as none of them could understand a word I said the whole trip. Of course, I thought they talked funny too.
I posted a trip review over on Allcoast along with Pics. http://www.allcoast.com/discussion/V...opic_ID=101870

Jon, you'll get one this year. I was lucky and got three on my 8 day in July on the Rooster this year. Man, what a fun fish!! See you in August. Chad

This year when we were leaving the docks, the Polaris Supreme and the Independence were already at Alijos. The Indy leaves, I think 2 days before our trip in '10 but the Polaris leaves 3 days after us. The Indy trip is only 6 days so it looks like, the good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, we will be at the Rocks by ourselves for a couple of days. Maybe I can find an old blind 'hoo that I can snag. Also noticed that the trip is no longer a limited load. That is bad but the boat is huge so we should be OK.

Sorry about the tardy reply.......the Galleger trip was
just plain fun and the fish were a bonus....we caught Blue Fin Tuna, albacore,Yellow Fin Tuna, dorado,Yellowtail and halibut......no wahoo...
Jon is a blast to be around......I will be on the trip next year
I signed up last year just because Jamie "Fishordie" suggested it....now it seems it will be one of my "regular" trips.

I LOVE you guys.
Chad, this charter has been going on for many years. The main goal is to laugh and make new friends. That said, some fish like there is no tomorrow others just like to take it easy. We do not allow anyone to act like bulls at the rail though to be honest it has been many years since we have actually had to have the chat with anyone. Contrary to what Jon may say he is a true Southern Gentleman who could get along with a Pole Cat. Fishybuzz's only problem is 32 pounds of drag is not enough so he will have to now fish the Island with 40 pounds of drag...... . Pat Gallagher is one of my dearest friends and though he might be 3 bottles short of a 6 pack is one of the best charter masters you could ever fish with. The Excel is the Big Queen of the fleet with the Skipper and crew as good as you could ask for.
In short, Cummon in, the water is fine and we would love to have you.
Jamie

Hey Jaime,
I know you guys had a good time on the trip and I was thinking of joining you guys next year if there was an opening BUT........the last time I fished with Fishybuzz and you I realized that I was light in the Accurate Reels and Seeker Rods dept after more than one JWB and those fine cigars. I am going to have to add to my arsenal before I get on a boat with you two
"collectors" so I don't feel like a pauper.
Just kidding of course...............the Excel is a great boat and a 8 day that time of year has got to be epic. Do you allow Fishy to bring Chicken Feet?
Did Jon from the Tennessee chapter represent my fellow "cane pole and bobber" brothers in fine fashion?
Have you been to Montana for the trout fishing lately?

Jim,
From talking... or typing you don't get pregnant. Sign up for next years Gallagher 8 day so we can all fish together again. Just do it. I would love it and so would the rest of the folks.
Jamie
