| Thoughts on the Excel...
My 11/3/09 10 day trip on the RRIII trip just got cancelled. I am in need of booking another trip and wanted to get your thoughts on the Excel as they have some upcoming long range trips open. I did a search and didn't see much good (or bad) about them. Are there better choices out there? If so, which boats?

The Excel, both boat and crew, are as good as they come. Frankly, you can not go wrong with any of the Long Range boats. If they were not outstanding, they would not be in business.

I road the Excel this year on an 8 day for the first time. Great boat and crew. No complaints.
Personally my favorite boats are the Indy and the RR III. To each his own.

I've been on three trips on the Excel and I feel they are a great group.

Well, best deal going for that time frame would be the Qualifier 105. 10 days for $2795, but I believe you can get a $400 discount if you spend something like $250 in certain tackle shops (which you probably will anyway). So 10 days for $2395, just make sure to tip well.
Royalstar and Shogun have 10 days at that time. American Angler has an 11 day at the same time (I'd take the extra day of fishing). If the price is all the same to you, find out who is definitely going and has a light load. Always better to fish with 20 instead of 30, no matter what the size of the boat.

Fished the Excel on a 10 day and loved it....BIG BOAT. Bummer about the Charkbait trip not going on the RRIII but if you can hop the Excel....do it.
The big boats are very nice on a long trip but the Indy is 650.00 more with 2 more people and the Intrepid is over 1,200 more than the RRIII but only has 22 people....that is alot of room on that boat if it even had space. The Excel is ablot 300.00 more than the RRIII with 4 more people but you would never feel cramped.
The other boat you should consider is the Q 105......I have never ridden it but it does get great reviews. it is about 350.00 more and not sure of the load but if you have questions call the office or send JKfish a message....he is on Bloodydecks and he knows the owner.....in the 3rd person of course
Lots of options
I am partial to the American Angler for my own reasons but any boat that can get you on fish is a boat I'm partial too
Have fun

Give Lori a call at the American Angler office. Looks like an 11 day 11/3-14 but it might be full. Love fishing with those guys, too. American Angler Schedule & Reservations

EXCEL, Great capt.'s. Great crew. Great chefs. And sorry about that trip on the rr3. Did anyone tell you the Excel still went on the braid 10 day the trip after BIG ALS 8 day and your RR trip with only 16 spots sold. Everyone had there own state room? Thats right they went with 1/2 of the spaces sold. The boat rides well and is very large. As others have said they are all good boats.

I went on the Jerry Brown 16 day 2 years ago with 18 anglers. Unbelievable, wonderfull.
