Its business, why not make couple extra dollares (nobody will notice)! I've fished few boats that charged for Mexican permits and i found out later that we were in US waters. I know fishing conditions change, but be honest and let everyone knows why there's a refund to be collected at the galley!!!

All the more reason to fish the Intrepid. No ups no extras except beer.

I was told that the boats pay an annual fee that is equal to what many of them charge their passengers per trip..... It has become a cash cow...

I fish the Intrepid and they do not use this as an opportunity to make hidden cash.....

Many boats charge $15.00 per day a 10 day trip is another $150.00 per passenger per trip 24 passengers extra $3600.00 per trip.... the annual mexican permit is probably only $1500.00. 3 or 4 days of the trip is spent in US waters travelling not fishing at all yet they still charge.....

It has become shell game, and in tough times when guys are scaping to come up with money for the trip it could be a deal breaker. They other option is to go fishing on the Intrepid where all fees are included in the trip price....

The Royal Star has not charged for permits for a couple seasons, as long as we are all shilling for our favorite boats here . . .

All boats pay the same for permits, They are purchased for the same price each time the landing goes to Pesca. As for yearly fees I thought that in in the ticket price.
And in the end its always the Lopreste Poole the sucks in the cash!

I would gently suggest when you call an office ask for the trip price and any added costs for permits and any other extras fees due for that trip, add them up and reach the total cost payable to an operation for that trip. Compare and make your decisions based on fact rather than rhetoric. For example, if two vessels, that you like equally charge a $1000 for an equal length trip and one adds $150 in fees, then the second vessel would be more expensive. However if one vessel charges $1500 and the second angling platform charges $1200 for an equal length trip and then adds $150 in fees, the vessel that adds fees would be less expensive. I am also available for converting Fathoms to Feet. Have fun on your next trip, I believe long range fishing is still a great vacation value.
