Do you bitch that you are getting overcharged for the brocolli on your dinner plate when you go out to eat and pay $23.95???...because you know, it only costs $1.99 per pound at Vons. WTF???
All inclusive or not, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do the math to come up with the total trip cost. If you can afford it, go and enjoy. If not, don't go. It's as simple as that.
This thread is lame. Get over it.

I think both sides of this argument need to take into account the fact that there are forces at work that none of you are aware of, and there are forces at work that none of the boat owners are aware of. Trying to nail down what these permits actually cost each boat is really an exercise in futility. What a trip on any particular boat is worth is what someone is willing to pay for it. bottom line is that everything from food to fuel can be purchased from different places and have variations in price from day to day and even hour to hour in some cases. Fish with the boat you like the best, and let other people fish with the boat they like best.

You forgot to mention the 16oz Ribeye steak and the Baked Potato with all of the fixins included in that $23.95 unless of course you just had a plate of brocolli for $23.95..........Albertsons had brocolli for .99 a pound so it sounds like you got ripped off all the way around.

You are lame and you need to get over yourself.... If the all inclusive "thing" makes the cost even more convoluted and you actually believe that, then I must think you are lame....

How fucken hard it is one price to understand and how convoluted is that????

Convoluted is paying for a trip and not knowing how much the Mexican permit will be, not knowing how much the fuel surcharge will be....

As the rocket scientist you must be let me see you predict how much a trip will be next year??? You do not know how much fuel will cost, so you do not know the fuel surcharge, and each time you fish a different boat you have to inquire as to how much they charge for a mexican permit.... Yah... that's not convoluted....

Then after you do your magic rocket scientist math look at the length of the boat and the age of the boat, and other occomodations... The boat owner is taking a risk and riding the market, and if fuel goes up they eat it, if fuel goes down they cash in.... The other boats have eliminated the risk in the market fluctuations.... Talk about good business....

It is not always as simple as one thinks.... I don't bitch about the all inclusive fishing price, and I don't bitch about the all inclusive steak price... Duh! It is an all inclusive price... You can't even make a good analogy that makes sense....

Now here is an analogy for you: Let's say you stay the night in a hotel and hotel tax is 5%, but you don't know that... You pay for your room and the hotel charged you 15% and pocketed the extra money..... It's illegal in the US to even do that.... If you want more for the hotel room charge more, but don't hide profit in some bullshit fee.... that is the subject...

Many of the boats are telling customers they must have mexican permit to fish and then making extra money on it. The dishonesty is what is being discussed... Does an all inclusive boat charge for it?? Yes, they have too, but it is not a shell game or dishonest....

I would like to jumb in on this topic..

First, I have been fishing the boats for a long time. Starting with the Islander and moving across to a couple of boats and have fished the AA the last 5 years. I have seen a lot of fees/costs come and go. It is the nature of the beast.
Secondly, I know most of the guys that have posted on this thread and respect thier decisions and knowledge. There are a lot of good points in those threads.

With that said I would like to offer my humble opinion. When I finally select a boat for long range fishing.. I look at the trip price on their web site then call and ask for the incidentals. Before I step on board the boat, I typically know what the final price will be or very close what those final costs are.

In the end... there are boats that cost more.. and boats that cost less. Ultimately to me the price is not nearly as imporatant as the captain of the boat and whom the deckhands are to be.

Fixing prices, perceived hidden costs, charges for fees that are not there. I am a consumer of a product that I choose when and where and for how much. As with most products in a competitive market you will always find differentiators. Find the operators that make the most sense to you and make your decision. You will never find everyone to agree with you... it doesn't matter.

Soooo.. in the end, do your homework, review all the factors and make your decision. Once you have made your decision and put your bucks down. It is time to focus on fishing and stop thinking about.. did this boat really charge me for something that does not exist? Why did I pay $330 a day for this boat and that boat charges $270.

Make your decision and move on.
peace out
