A ten day permit should not be more than 90.00 - 95.00
That is straight from the Mexican Dept of Fish and game or Pesca.
Anything over that is cash to the boat.
Some boats play it straight up and some don't. You need to ask the questions and determine for yourself what boats you choose to ride. If the permit cost variation doesn't matter to you then just pay what the total price is and go fish....pretty simple. | Yep this is the correct information here. The only other thing would be the cost of bracelets for fishing guadalupe.

Anything over that is cash to the boat. | Well Jim you nailed out the right info. Better you than me to post this stuff. The only boat to my knowledge that has charged the appropriate rate has been Fred on RICEBOWL Charters on the Islander. I thinks its a colabrative effort between all boats to supplement their income. Is it right? Its business I guess, but it would be nice to get a straight answer from some rather than get the run around.
You're hosed if fishing 3 days or less as the excursion permit breaks down to $15 a day, but a 10 or 15 dayer, you do the math.
Lets say there are 5, 10 day trips on a boat and each time the boat had 25 anglers. Thats a total of 125 anglers for the the combined 5 trips. The excursion permit runs $95 per angler, but boats charge $150 worth of permits to each angler. Thats a $55 profit for each angler and multiply by 125. Wala! $6875 of added income just in 10 dayer permits.
I guess its the cost of doing business. A thread like this popped up around 2006, and it ticked off a few folks. Not to beat a dead horse of course of course .

I may sound dumb for asking, but you can't but the permits you need independently can you? I mean, if you go fishing a lot, it might be worth it.

I couldn’t help myself……
I would love to be able to give you the "Fathoms to Feet" formula for the horizontal calculation to Alijos Rocks, but I am sitting down and when I am finished typing I will be going straight to the vertical, that is after spinning my chair 180 degrees, this will now make the new formula, a hot topic of conversation at this years Sportfishing Certified Public Accountants Convention. When they, The SCPAC, design their new Chart of Accounts for optimizing income in the sport fishing industry, I may be allowed to pass the formula on or I may have to go into hiding in Costa Rica. Hell, that second idea might be all right…….. Costa Rica where there are beaches, waves, women and fish, what more could a guy like me want. All kidding aside, if this permit thing really has you befuddled, Titan06 has kindly volunteered to solve any math problems BD members have. This generous offer goes past the simple trip plus permits calculations and now extends to how many miles per gallon you are getting in your new car or the optimum transit route to Mars for your next trip. I’ll already be there with the welcome wagon!
John Klein
PS before my trip to Mars, I will be at the Big Fish Bait and Tackle Swap Meet this Sunday, October 25. Check your WON for the details. I will be available for all questions on long range fishing and/or conspiracy theories. Hope to see you there.

Sort of reminds me of a game plan seminar given to us in November of '07 on the American Angler Bob's Sporting Goods 10 day trip that departed the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The cows had gone on the chew on the lower banks on the trip before ours. That sets the stage.
Sam was giving us the game plan seminar on the first full travel day. We were headed straight to the banks outside Mag Bay. One of the anglers seemed concerned about the weather and Sam's response was that it looked good for a few days and after that we'll know more. I said, "We're going anyway, right?" Sam grinned and we gave each other the "Howie Mandel" fist bump. Like saying, Hell Yeah, we're going fishing!
So, there it is, we're going fishing. I have ridden a number of boats since my last trip on the Angler which was the 7 day June Zuker / G Loomis trip. I was on Intrepid for an 11 day last year in November. Fished the Rooster for the June Heat Trip this year, Searcher was a four day in August and just finished the 8 day on Shogun. Looking forward to getting back on the Angler in June for that same 7 day. Bottom line, I never felt cheated, or had any reason to question the honesty or integrity of any of the boats I fished on. I also never felt I was being scammed. Helluva way to do business on your vacation feeling paranoid about being price gouged, I hate that. I have to agree with John here that "long range fishing is still a great vacation value."
So, we're going fishing, right? Hell yeah, can't wait for next year. June can't roll around soon enough. Me and my drinking buddy Jim Hall, (oops, fishing buddy) will be in line early on the morning of June 15th next year. Watching the guys from the previous trip unload their catch. Talking with them as they describe the great fishing they just enjoyed and all the rest that goes along with a long range trip. What worked, was it WFO or scratchy.
Yeah, it's another pile of dead fish, but the excitement that builds as you watch the Jackpot winners enjoy their fifteen minutes of fame at the top of the dock, the reacquainting yourself with the guys you've fished with in the past, the warm welcome from Lori in the office when you check in, it's all good and it can't come soon enough for me. See that Bluefin in my avatar pic? June 7 day on the Angler. And yes, my smile was that big!

One thing not mentioned by anyone (I think) is that SOME boats give $2-3 dollars a day to SAC for their work in supporting fishing. If thats true it accounts for some of the money overage we're talking about. Some boats take advantage tho.
By the way. I also like the "Intrepid".

Helluva way to do business on your vacation feeling paranoid about being price gouged, I hate that. | Steve, It doesn't matter how many trips you do on how many boats it is simply how you choose to look at it...
Others choose to look at it like I do... To me all business where hidden money is going for something other than what is being charged there is a question of honesty and integrity. In any line of business being honest will carry you further in my opinion.
If I am charged $150.00 for a Mexican fishing license and I find out that it didn't cost that much I was scammed. Someone pocketted the extra cash for something they were not honest about... If they want to make more money on the trip price it correctly, but don't charge me for a Mexican Permit and pocket my cash...
Am I paranoid about being scammed on my vacation?? NO! It is simply something I consider when making a choice for a trip..... Does it effect my trip?? NO!
Some people have established relationships for years before they found out they were being scammed and now it is hard to even see it.... Some people don't care if they are lied to as long as the value is there.. I want an honest business transaction in ever thing I do, vacation or otherwise....
If I find out my landscaper charged me for fertilizer and later find out he had not been fertilizing I was scammed.... If I find out Les scwab charged me for brake calipers and re-used the old ones, I was scammed.... That is how I see it...
Does it mean they can't fish? NO. Does it mean they are terrible people? NO. Does it mean the crew sucks? No. Does it mean we don't get in line and enjoy watching the other boats come in? No. WTF?? It simply means that some people want to pay for what they are told they are paying for and not packed with hidden profit......
