Large tuna on a PL-68 Jig on the Intrepid.

Copied from the Intrepid's website..

The tuna on the jig is one of the largest I can remember on the PL-68. Has anyone seen a larger model caught on the iron ?

Sat. October 17, 2009:

As we travel East and towards the Lower Banks the mood is great on the boat and everyone enjoyed a day off from pulling on big fish. We look back and are thankful we have patience to wait things out when conditions don't look so good.

Our last evening and night bite at the Bank was awesome! One of our anglers caught a 270 lb Tuna on a PL 68!!!.

As the Storm grows and has become a cat 5 hurricane we are pleased to be on the move and into a safer area for a couple days of hunting at the lower banks. We hope to find some good fishing inside and round out the catch. "The Intrepid Team"

I know Tim Eckstrom got one at Clarion I believe that was in the mid 290"s on that PL 68 jig. I got one right at 200lbs and remember hoping the hook would not pull when my rod was fully loaded up and the fish was just below the surface. You could have a potential missle on your hands if it did...

In 2007, on the Shogun after TG 13 day, a Wayne G. hooked into a cow on the same jig (not saying it was #270... but over 200). Threw the hook at color (no injuries : ). Blue Chrome and fluoro on back, single hook.

Right on Tim, Tim Ekstrom got a 287 at Clipperton back then, middle of the day in a bird school bite if I remember correctly. It was on Jim Mitchell's rod
