Looks like to me that Rusty is saying.........hhhhhhhhhmmmmmm Oh yeah.......... I realized corrosion was a problem.

Is WFO's position to offer Rusty to "look" for a Shoe Repair shop to ultimately resolve the issue without actually looking at the gear themselves??????

Don't get me wrong, I am not for or against WFO gear and I do not know Rusty or Doug.... But in the customer satisfaction strategy.. or how to keep consumers returning for that long term reocurring revenue, Doug or someone from WFO should at least take a look at the bag, then make a determination of "Misuse, neglect or abuse".

I am sure there is more to the story.. but what I have read from Rusty and WFO, the story to date does not make sense.

Doug, you now have Rusty's contact info on BD. You or someone from WFO are now able to take this off line to its resolution. If you have not already pro-actively done so.

My humble thoughts..
regards

Doug said that Rusty hung up before he could offer some advise on how to get repaired.

Sorry but the instruction sheet everyone throws away without reading tells you how to care for bag.

Seems to me Doug was pretty much an ALLSTAR for responding here. Some lessons YOU have to pay to learn.( Read the damn paperwork)

You have to take some kind of responsibility for the damage that has occured. Everyone understands what saltwater will do to all kinds of metals and should take time to do proper maintence. When I had my first wood box I kept the hinges and clasp oiled and waxed to prevent rust and corrision. I even took the time to scotch guard my WFO bag before I took it out on its first trip. I had 100 plus pieces of iron and scads of torpedos in mine and I guarentee it was damn near 75 lbs or more. So when the strap tore I took it down and handled the situation. I did not and would not expect WFO to repair or replace the bag because of my stupidity. Very simple...if you roll a car doing 100mph and die, it sure isn't the damn cars fault you killed yourself...you were stupid. Take the bag and get it fixed at your own cost due to improper maintence on your part......next time read the directions.

I don't believe there's any other soft sided gear bag company on the market today, with that kind of warranty. Most offer only 2-3 years on all soft goods at best.

We do not however cover misuse, abuse or neglect. Our zippers are corrosion resistant, but not 100% corrosion proof (as we all know salt water can raise havoc on most anything man made) this is why we always recommend that if your bag/zippers come in contact with saltwater, at the minimum rinse them with freshwater and dry with a cloth. As many of you have stated you can also use corrosionX, WD40, or silicone spray to really guarantee against corrosion. I understand that Rusty was upset and wants to be able to use the bag he purchased . He hung up very quickly, I don't have his number and I did not get a chance to tell him, again as some of you posted, that most shoe repair shops should be able to fix it. If anyone know him please pass on the info.

Thanks again and Tight Lines,
Doug

I am a good friend of Dougs and have been a long time customer I will say in the defense of those that work for WFO they are great with customer satisfaction they are not ones to shine you off like other companies should you have a problem. I do have to say as well that IF a WARRANTY states something it is what it is and if the owner or company decides to go against what they stated on that warranty to help you out and you complain you are wrong for that. Whats not to understand? Its pretty plain and simple that the customer was offered help got pissed and didnt do his part to get the help he was seeking. Plain and simple.

If I don't put water in my radiator and drive my car and it blows up....that is neglect on my part but because I bought it from Ford....they should replace my car for free?

Doug is a straight up guy and has always stood behind his product just like any other business but if a guy buys a bag and throws away the INSTRUCTIONS on maintainance and neglects to care for his bag.......how is that Dougs fault?

Sorry your zipper let go....either fix it , send it back to WFO so they can take a look or buy a different tackle storage system.

I've had that same long range bag for four years and I think 9 or 10 trips. I load the hell out of it and beat it up good. Never had an issue wear wise although one trip on Islander a clip on strap got slamed in the engine room hatch. I got the reps card at Fred Hall and he mailed me a new part. Had to have a shoe repair place do the stich work but it's good as new. I have the smaller reel bag too , same deal , no problems.

I use a Silcone Lubricant every year. I spray the whole bag. Works like a charm.
