I've taken mine on lots of trips... have never washed it after trips (or wd40, corrozionx), and still haven't had a problem with corrosion. Have had mine for about 5 years now.

I fish with mine 50-75 days a year and the only problrm I ever had was the strap threads gave away because of the amount of weight that was in the bag. 100 pcs of iron and lots of torpedo weights. Ran it to the shoe repair guy with a commercial sewing machine and for a yellowtail its as good as new. If for any reason a zipper would go out I would run it over to the shoe guy and get it fixed....no bi deal.

I have the large WFO bag for about 5 years now. Been on multiple 10+ day trips. It once sat on the Shogun on the way up from the 23 and got soaked with water coming over the top for two days. Came home and the whole bag was soaking wet. But the Zipper still works.

I have a simular Zipper problem with my Albakcore. But that sucker I've had since they were introduced. I just take a spray bottle of fresh water and spray it and just move it back and forth for a bit. Still sticky, but it still moves.

I'll have to try the WD40 idea.

Haven't had any zipper problems on my SKB box

J/K

I have been using WFO bags for quite a while and have never had any problem with them at all but I do put something on all of the zippers.

Things used include

spray lubricant
bar soap / liquid soap
Sunscreen in the stick form

Basically anything that will keep salt from any of the metal

I have a 4 tray bag. I broke a zipper and a strap clip. I got in touch with Doug and he had me send it in. He said the reason for the zipper break was corrosion and the strap clip break was abuse. He sent me the bag back, with a clip if I wanted to have it sewn on. He said, you need to treat the bag like any other marine product.

Wash it. Dry it. Lubricate it if necessary.

The bag was abused by thousands of miles of traveling Mex1 and washboard roads - in the bed of the truck. Countless hours being slammed around in the bottom of a panga.

I got the bag back, scrubbed it up lubed it down and it's been great ever since.

Now when I get back from a trip. I pull the trays, hose it down and hang it to let dry.

This is my first soft tackle bag and I absolutely love it.

I think Doug's customer service was VERY helpful and honest.

Rusty, thats one problem with bags, as opposed to boxes. Zippers and salt dont mix.

One thing you may consider doing is replace the zippers. Get the nice heavy duty plastic ones that have large teeth.

If you dont have a family member with a sewing machine you can find people in the skilled trade section of craigslist.org (still one of my favorite sites of all time). You can even place an ad that say WANTED, need sewing zipper repair. You will have regular people trying to make ends meet that will do that labor for you for pretty cheap. Give them a couple filets if they like fish, maybe even mention that in your ad.

Problem solved, wont have to worry about Corrosion anymore. Also, with the plastic zipper you can machine wash them and not worry about the hard water in Vegas damaging the zippers.

Zippers are dirt cheap. Probably fins some for free or close to free if you place another (free) ad in craigslist for WANTED: zippers.

Life is too easy, when you make it easy. Found a lady on CList that was going to stich my boat cover, but it was so old it just made sense to buy a new one. PM me if you want and i will send you the email address.

Take the vasiline out of your clothes bag on the boat. Give your zippers a heavy lube. If you bring water soluable lube then borrow your Buddys petroleum jelly.
