I'll have that with me. I am also bringing a Black Steel 6463XXH for the 30S and 80-100 lb. I have a 2 X 4, but had not planned on bringing it as I am leaving the 130 lb gear at home. Maybe I'll bring it along and you can see how that feels. Might even toss in a 50 sized reel just for shits and grins. Ya just never know.
My choice for a factory built Super Seeker for 60 lb would probably be an SS-6465XH. Not sure how it would handle 80 lb. Fishing 20 lbs of drag might overpower that blank. The CJBF70XH has a 12 tip and is rated for 50-80 and would be something I would try for 60 lb and maybe 80, but Seeker does not make it in a finished rod, and it's probably too late to have one built.

Bottom row are Dorado Dave and then the other Dave who we discovered in conversation has a fishing getaway mobile home up here in Bishop. Those pics are from April last year.
Sure looking forward to getting on the water for some great fall fishing. Nothing like fresh Dorado for dinner. | Steve from all the pictures that were posted of our Nov trip you coundn't find one of Redbeard?

I topshotted the Baja Specials with 50 lb and a Saltist 40 with 40 lb this weekend. Zipped up the tackle bag and the reel case. Just need to bundle the rods and pack the sea bag and I'm ready to go. Oh, and pick out some wine for dinners.
We fished mainly 50 lb and two speeds. My go to outfit for that is a TLD20II with a Tib frame and a T-Bar Lite handle. On a Seeker Black Steel CJBF65H. For 60 lb it's the TLD30II set up the same way. Both reels are full of 80 lb hollow and I have some pre made 50 and 60 lb fluorocarbon wind-ons ready to go.
I think I'll use the boat's kite rods. Don't know what they use but I'm sure it will be set up apporpriately for the conditions. Got a brand new Dorado pattern Marauder I want to drag to see if I can get it all scratched up. Quote:

Wow, hopefully we'll get into some of those whoppers as you did in 05' Steve. What were you guys fishing with? 60# 80#? On my trip last year to the Stones, they only wanted 40# and 50#, unless i was fishing the kite, then 60#-80#.
Have you guys been following the weather and fishing reports down that area?
4 days left and counting.
Chao! |

Answering the Roll Call,
I'm one of five in our group on this trip. Four of us have fished the Shogun a number of times, to date our favorite Boat. Really like the way they run the Boat, Norm and Bruce are great. Also really like the way they fish the Kite from the upper deck.
Of course you never know but a few years back fishing this time of year on a 10 day, happen to be the Shogun we had 12 fish from 140 to 295 along with a good variety of smaller YF, somthing like 110 Wahoo, good numbers on Yellowtail and a few Dorado. We happend be on a trip right at the begining of a big fish year and it was nice to have the right gear for the best chance at landing one. I'm planning on bringing some heavier stuff just in case, you never know.
Good luck, see you on the Boat.
