we have a bunch of experience with the Excel, we used to do trips all the time when Randy toussaint was the skipper, i know he is over at the Royal Star now though. thats the other boat we were thinking about.

What would keep me off the Indy for a long range trip, is they are NOT part of the long range code group.Any boat can fish Guadalupe but when fishing Alijos/The Ridge/banks below and not have anyone to talk with and discuss conditions and share info with you are in the blind. There are to many good top boats to choose from. The Royal Star is always a good choice.

| I've heard that too. Even on the local sportfishing show, they imply that the long range boats do some form of coordinating over who will be at what locations and when so that each boat knows if they can get the most favored spot, sit on spot two until one leaves, and so on. Right?

That is part of it for sure Glenn, but the info shared between the 12 boats that are on the long range code group is so valueble.I have been in the wheel house with Tommy on the Supreme and heard the conversations with the RP, Q105, Royal Star, AA, Shogun, Excel and others about water temps, conditions, currents, that the boats are able to cover a vast amount of area and help each other from making a long ride somewhere that isnt any good at that time.True someone has to go to each area and see how it is but at least that info is shared with the other top boats.I couldnt imagine fishing on a boat that has to go blind and just hope that the conditions are right.

how big of bluefin are we talking about?
and yeah randy is probably one of the nicest people on the planet. usually most people would be pretty annoyed with a 9 year old running around in the wheel house, but randy never had a problem with it. hell he was a really nice guy, i managed to hook into a bluefin on a 9 foot rod when i was about 11, and i could have easily been pulled over, but randy stood around with me during the whole thing and made sure i didnt go in. he is a hell of a guy.

| Link Problems
Something is very wrong with that link when I click on it.
I have tried it on a couple of different occasions and each time an error page pops up with the webpage in the background but you cant view anything, plus it takes some work trying to get out of it!
Anybody else having this problem with this??
