On a long range trip aboard the RS years ago I hooked a bull dorado and while waiting for a gaff, "that guy" came over, dropped his bait over my hanging fish and the fish took it. He then demanded that it was half his fish and the capt. said I would have to share it with him. "that guy" had no other fish and said, I want it! I could not believe it. Just last weekend on the Grande, day and a halfer, three dorado got hooked up and all three were lost. My wife tried to get through about 6 corner hogs and not one would move - sawed off. Another guy tried the same with the same outcome. The third guy was waiting for a gaff and they could not get anyone away from the rail and his was lost also. One of "those guys" said, this was my spot, I'm not moving and you can't make me. Oh yeah, next time we'll see...when it is my fish I will be "that guy". The crew did nothing to help out, never even saw the captain the whole trip. The whole boat was nothing but "that guy".

That guys is the guy tying his setups and rigging all of his gear on the side of the boat, blocking the entire side of the boat while you're trying to stow away your rods.
That guy also says , while grabbing my accurate/calstar combo, "Is that your gear ? Doesnt look like YOURS" |

| How about "these guys?"
Very convenient for the guy who needs to get into his tackle box.
Rod Racks? Fuck it, who needs 'em!
I know these are long rods, but please. I was in that spot with my tackle bag for a fifteen day trip, a Ginormous Pain in the Ass. And they were not long rods and there was plenty of room in the racks.

That's George's box... He doesn't fish so it's just like a rod rack.

There's a seat there too. Unless you bring your mom, and she picks up after you, don't be that guy!

I don't mind the rods as much as the asshat's who feel the need to sit down in front of my tackle box all the time so they can tie on tackle. Especially in the middle of a bite; then they act like I'm in THEIR way. Do you really need to sit down while you are tying a hook on? |

I think the message is clear. at least to me. I'll avoid that spot and ask one of the other anglers who has more than one box or bag in a prime spot to clear some space.
Don't be that guy. He comes on the boat with not just a single bag like a Hippo Ranger or a WFO bag. Oh no, he's got another bag or two of jigs, another one with rigging supplies, and he keeps his reel case in the rack as well. He's a space pig. I'm not too fond of that guy.

Hasn't any of his stuff come up missing for a day or so (not stolen), like hidden reel bag in a cabinet somewhere or something, or lightly snipped lines on his set-ups or rigs hooks cut off tied back up with a full knot to his reels I have seen guys get the picture and change their tune when shit like this happens to them. Then I have seen that guy just not get it at all too and couldn't understand why stuff like that kept happening to him the whole trip. |
