bam bam

How about that guy/gal that ties on a big ole torpedo sinker racks their rod without securing the weight so it bangs against the side of the boat all night long. I have had to get up in the middle of the night before to cut off weights a few times. Also how about that guys that insists on hooking his jig (usually a rapalla with 18 trebble hooks) to the eye on the rod up near the top in prime shirt/skin/eye grabbing area as you run by with a fish.

How about the guy who is seasick and chooses the siderail to blow his lunch so it sprays everyone in the stern. I love a guy who shares!

Clearly, in this case, if the wind's in your face you fucked up!

I was, (at another venue, ahem) recently accused of being harsh. When That Guy does that, first time it's about educating the guy. If it was covered in the captain's seminar, it's about reminding him. If it continues, time to get the dykes out and do a little snipping. Or at least remove the weight from the loop if possible and place the jig where it belings and then tell somebody on the crew. I like to remain passive and let the crew be the enforcers.

Just a side note. Home Depot has this new Velcro stuff you can buy that is soft and smooth and doesn't leave scratches. It is about an inch wide and you can cut it to any length. I now keep several strips of it in my tackle bag for just such occasions (torpedos) and many other uses.

I was on a fish this summer and 5-7 lines were around it as it moved across the stern. With the help of the skipper I managed to go through the hole in these bunched up lines and continue fighting. The skipper untangled all but one line and the guys were back in the game with a new bait. The last guy had 20-50 yards of line in a tangle near me and the skipper just kept winding it in and balling it up. I thought for sure he was going to follow it back, but he simply clipped the line, tossed in the plastic only trashcan and gaffed my fish. That guy had no clue what had happened!

On our last trip when that happened the deckhand would put a banana or a can of beer on the hook of the 'tangler' and throw it back out

I've seen it done with a fish tag, too. Just left the fella scratchin' his head and clueless
