Another terrific time on the water with the Rooster. The Rocks didn't do great for us, but we scratched some good tuna. Cedros made the trip for me yet again with some phenomenal combinations of running & gunning for yellows, big breezers, some dropper loop fish, then bigger yellows on the beach, birds working and yellows swirling on bait left and right, and some fantastic calico fishing in both the kelps and shallow beaches. Damn, what a trip!
I'll let the pictures do the talking. The RRIII crew did a fantastic job yet again.
Waiting in anticipation:
The proud bird:
If anyone wants the raw image to photoshop, let me know...
Bill, if you use this for marketing you owe me a rod:
The conditions at the Rocks SUCKED. Current one way, wind the other. The most assbackwards bait fishing I have ever seen. Day 3 was our first day at the rocks. I managed this nice 50# ish tuna to set my personal best:
I'll deny it to my death bed, but some may say that I was caught fishing the dropper loop. One may argue that I needed to break in my new 665. Everything about it was great, except that retarded handle:
That pretty much wrapped it up for the first day at the rocks:
Day 4, we stayed at the rocks for a little better fishing. I ended up with 3 bait fish and one kite fish.
This one speaks for itself...
More of the tuna from Day 4:
The Neck getting worked by / working this tuna:
I had so much time while waiting for that fish to come up, I took some scenic shots:
Finally!
Apparently the yellows at Alijos are now snorting crack, because Alec caught one on a freakin sabiki rig!...
in the NOSE...
Day 5 gave us shit weather and no fish at Alijos, so we packed up and headed for the holy island of Cedros. The ride up SUCKED!
This is pretty much how George looked 50% of the time, the other 25% he was eating an apple, and the other 25% he was sleeping.
UuuUUUUuuuUHhhhHHHHH!!!
The Arrival:
There goes the pile of long rods again...
The PIG DICK II aka THE DUECE aka YERGOO in full bendo. Even Joe is like "whoa"!
These fish were small, but lots of fun running and gunning for the jumpers.
Here's my first fish on P-Bod's 552. I was going to hang it up, but its a bitchin' stick, and I think he'd want me to fish it and give it the life it deserves. Thanks for the awesome rod P-Bod...
Alec straight pimping:
Pandemonium:
Mikey gettin some!
Alec on the semi-grown man gear:
Mikey bent again:
Fucking baby killer...
That's better...
Andy was hating on the long rodders, so Mark and I had to throw ona couple 30 pounders to represent.
Some of the better grade yellars:
On some 5 year old crusty ass 15#! No structure or kelp, the fish just ran straight to open water. Lots of fun.
On the skiff:
Joe is one fishy bastard!
Sadly, we couldn't stay at Cedros forever, and had to leave. We spent the last day trolling for some Gaybacore.
With tons of company:
The finaly tally:
And that's it. What a great trip. The weather and conditions could have been better, but as always, I learned a few things and took away a handful of terrific memories.
