Question Moon Phases

When booking a long range trip, is it advisable to avoid a full moon? I have always tried to stay away from full moons on overnight trips but I imagine on a long range trip they could just fish at night. I hope I'm not over thinking this???

4 days before full and 4 days after new. Just rememeber you never really know when the fish will chew.

Watch the moon phase that the fish bite on the best. Once you figure out the prevailing pattern for the season (new-before or after, full -before or after) the season will be over. But, at least you'll know when you should have gone. This works equally well for Blue Fin Tuna and WSB.

Just take a look at the 2009 15 day June Heat trip reports (5-30/6-14) on the Red Rooster III. This trip was all over the full moon (June 7th). No night bite either and epic wahoo fishing and did I mention the Cows, 24 over 200 lbs and 2 over 300 lbs. I was asking the same questions when I found out that the full moon was taking place on this trip. Took the moon info with a grain of salt and had a wonderful first longrange trip. My 2 cows were both caught on the 8th, the day after the official full moon and a limit of wahoo on this trip also.

My other experiences fishing moon phases is the best time that to fish them is any time you can get a bait into the water.

You have to be there when ever they bite and not only that be there and have a bait in the water when they decide they want to bite.
