| Q105/AHI Alijos Rock Q105/Ahi 7 Day to Alijos
Just talked with Joe on the boat via satellite and day 4 is providing another day of excellent fishing. Here are the reports from days 1,2, & 3 from the reports page at qualifier105.com
Day 1+ 2 A.H.I/ Alijos Rocks
We departed Pt Loma a little after noon yesterday on the 19th A.H.I. trip for 7 days. We spent yesterday prepping gear with morning albacore in mind. At first light, Capt Joe sent the word to put in the troll jigs. It was only a few minutes and hook up!!! We hooked a couple of the right kind. We ended up with a few fish and went back to trolling. We saw kelp a little later and after trip around it with trollers out, we hooked a troll fish, a yellowtail. With a couple of baitfish, we split. That was about it for the day. We decided to head south a little after lunch. Tomorrow we are going to be at our destination and we have high hopes for what is awaiting us. Our group is a mix of people from all over the state and a couple guys from Minden Nevada. We also have some first timers on board and are eager to catch them some fish. With high hopes for tomorrow, Capt Joe, Tim, Travis, Jiro, Vince, Oscar, and of course Cappy and Cris are out!!!
Day 3 A.H.I/ Alijos Rocks What a day. We arrived at Alijos rocks in the early afternoon and dropped the anchor. After just a few minutes, we hooked our first tuna. The fish was hooked bye first time long ranger Kendra Moore of Chico. With the boat swinging on the anchor and a couple of tangles the fish got a little out of control. Kendra did a great job on the fish but the line broke and swam to freedom. It wasn't long before she hooked another one and put it on the boat a 45lb yellow fin tuna. We had great kite fishing today with about 20 of our anglers hooking 1 on the kite. Funny story for the day, Jimmy Peoples also from Chico is on board and was up on the kite. Travis was just getting the kite into position when it got bit. With ever one yelling "the kites bit, the kites bit" Jimmy was so worked up he ran past Travis and up stairs. He decided to wine the kite in and not the kite fish, and was doing so like a mad man!!!! It was the funniest thing we have seen so far this season. Fishing was great we ended up with about 50 tuna and 30 Yellowtail. We will be here again in the morning and hope for a repeat of today, wish us luck. Till tomorrow the Q crew is out!!!!
Sounds like fun!!!!!!!!!Schmidt
