I like to pre buy equipment in advance also. If you read the boat websites, you will get an up to date summary of what size hooks, line, equipment was used to put tuna on the boat. Bill Roeckers site does a very good job of summarizing most of the fleet.
Current Conditions

One thing for sure, you will have a great time!

I haven't had time to read all of this but listen to guys with the experience... i.e. David, Billy any of those AC boys will hook you up. These guys are some of the most experienced and helpful people you will ever meet...

My .02 (and I have learned a LOT this year):

L2L topshots... Do a few of each... You can rig more as you need them... (lots of down time).

My big stuff had 200 spec with a short (10-15') 150# L2L... But most of my stuff was setup matched... I.e. 80/80 100/100, 2x 135/130 then the 200/150 on my 50w... 10-25' flouro leaders on the L2L's as it is harder than shit to fish the big gear and you don't want to be a line peeler....

I will likely do as David has suggested and start with 50 yards of 200 on top of my 135... All my izor is going on ebay (anyone interested in 1000's in used spectra?) Spend some time threading and you will understand that spectra is not the same despite the crap you read on here... I will be converting to most likely JB or the 16 blackwater (if I hit the lotto). The blackwater is sweet to thread but the JB is pretty damn easy also compared to 135 izor...

Anyhow lots of hooks, sinkers, etc.. Most sites have a list... Make sure you have some rubber cores as we could find none when we really needed them... More on that in my report later...

I prefer doing everything myself as far as rigging, however if you are not confident doing that the deckhands will hook you up... No experience required...

Good luck bro... Hope you slay um! I think the Feb 28th Intrepid trip is cancelled so I am really bummed because I won't get a shot again now until Oct... I'd love to fish another platform on occastion but that is out of the question until this CG BS is resolved... Someone needs to send a message that enough is enough... How many operations will have to go belly up before we figure this thing out. This is not the way to market LR fishing and attract customers. I get it.. I do, however now it is hurting the very boats that were trying to protect it. I would love to give them a shot at my business the four or five times a year I go long... Ohwell such is life...

Fish Hard... Oh and PM David (Wahoodad)... He'll hook you up...

Cheers!
