I didn't bring anything over a 40# jig stick, mostly Calico gear, although they're not too line shy down there. Think I fished 20#/25# mostly. Some guys fished a little lighter. Next year I will bring a little more heavy gear in case we find some tuna on the way down and/or back.
As I recall they had three skiffs; we'd do a four hour or so rotation and the trip was limited to 18 - 19 guys. Some days I was on the skiff for two rotations and a couple were only one rotation. The big boat stayed a little further out and there were only nine or ten guys left -- plenty of time for naps, cocktails, etc. :jo: Fishing was decent from the big boat for yellowtail, etc. Brian would go find us some fish to chase after the skiffs were launched.
It's a real laid back no pressure type of trip -- great food, in-shore anchorage at night and plenty of rail space. Think about fishing a 105' boat with only (9) guys on board...
