Doubled knots for hooks (San Diego). Big strong owner 5/0 circle ringed mutu hooks. Take an 80lb on down to 40. Heavy 6x salas, and 6x jr. salas, scrambled, blue/white. Fish Trap Iron 6, Dropper Loop big looped 12 inch, two hooks, Knick the line near the weight so that if you need to, it will break there before up the line, might get stuck on the rock? Set your drag with a scale for the best setting instead of by hand, They cost around $15 and range from 2-50pounds. very trick (COOL) item to have while traveling, testing your knots etc. A true tackle ho will have one or two.

I fished it in December on the Royal Polaris 5-day. The Yellowtail will definitely give you a run for your money. I only brought two rods both with 40# after not using half my gear the previous year. I brought a large spool of Maxima to replace my line each night. Brilliant! I really never lost any fish after they'd been hooked.

One important suggestion about the iron. The "mackeral stripe" pattern really gets 'em. Blue/white & green/white 6X's or jr's (with the little black markings). Or just as easy, bring a Sharpie and stripe your irons yourself.

I was on the trip last week and didn't see you, what happen?? We did great and I posted a fishing report.

The Scrambled Egg was the hot iron, but they like live bait as well.

48lb was the jackpot.
