Isla Guadalupe

We will be there! Leaving 9/6/04 returning 9/12/04.
I will post a comprehensive report upon returning.
It looks like a good warm water blast on the west side
starting yesterday, it should bring larger model Yellow Fin Tuna
with it. We'll let ya know.

don't forget the large frozen squid for flying the kite! i gave mots the breakdown on where to git em and how to use 'em. there's nothing more entertaining than watching a big squid flop around like a pair of wet jeans on the water, and then getting blown up on. gives me wood just thinking about it. that shit is the BOMB for the big chuna. hope you guys git sum. bastards.

Never have, but now looks like we'll be kit fishing from a private boat!!! YYYEEEEEEEEHHAAAAWWWWW!!!!!

Hope to get some good shots of those Yellow Fin Tuna blowing up on the baits!

This seems like a great wind forecast for the long range trip.

Lots

mikey- i would recommend bringing AT LEAST 2 dozen of them. 2-3lb specimens are perfect size. i use them primarily for the kite, and they can go full fuckin speed some days...you'll be happy if you have more than you need.

they are also an awesome bottom bait for jello's and BSB, but you do get them picked at alot by the stoopid whitefish. if you go to any of the spots with big current moving (i.e. tuna alley, the camp), toss one of those out into the current and fish it like a chunk bait. i got a ~50lb tuna that way on my last trip.

Full Tilt,

It sounds like you have a lot of local knowledge about fishing Guadalupe.

Can you give up the numbers or the description of where these places are? The camp, tuna alley? Is tuna alley near shark alley or are they one in the same?

Thanks,
Bryan

approximate numbers

hey brian- i dont have "exact" numbers for those spots...but i can give you some pretty close from my handy dandy chart:

tuna alley (south east anchorage). never heard it called shark alley, but they are probably the same area. this is a "safe" area to stay when the wind is blowing like a cheap TJ whore. this is the north east side of tuna alley. it rises from 300' to 150'

28.53.50
118.16.00

for the southern position, across the alley, but you should look for the ridge on the NE side of isla de afuera. there is aother sharp rise from 300' to 150', anchorage is pretty damn close to the south island. it almost looks like you are right underneath the island when you look up.

28.51.25
118.16.25

"the camp" is located at the NE end of the lupe. there are a number of white, delapidated structures (uninhabited) and a radio tower visible from sea that are right on the water. approx location:

29.09.75
118.16.75

this spot is very close to land, and has yet another steep drop off.

use these numbers with absolute caution!!! they are only approximations, and by no means exact or pinpoint. rely more on your fish finder, your crystal ball, your senses.

and if you want to trade stuff to the local pOnguerro's for bugs, bring budweiser, rapala's and porn (i'm not kidding about porn, they dig that shit for :jo: ). if you choose to buy bugs, DO NOT pay more than $1 per tail, or you'll drive the gringo bug buying prices up

here's a coupla pics of the south east anchorage area: in pic #1 south island (afuera) is a approx. 9 o'clock position off the stern. pic #2 shows battleship rock

juan-

dood- i have no idea where you live, but around these parts (san dieggo) you can score them at a coupla places: ranch 99 and viet dong (which might me the "gay" asian market based on the name ) that mikey mentions above.

if you dont have one of these places near you, check the phone book for asian food stores and call ahead....but be warned....those places smell like a thousand year old used tampon left out to fester. NASTY smells eminate from asian food stores, but i'm used to it cause ive been going to them my whole life.

get a bunch, and fish em on the kite, drooper looper, or the balloon (the kite is mo bettah). post pics of the slaughter when you return!! dicks!!

Thanks Bro,
Right here in Fullerton we have none (Viet-Stink-Mart's), but Garden Grove
is chocked full of the "low-Roofed-Catfood-Stands".
Now I know why they always wear those hospital masks.
I'm glad to get rid of all the outdated porn rags at the Isla, Time for new blood!!!

Fly Low!!!
