Unless you have been taking syeroids you might go with a less stiff rod, Long but as bendable as a 130lb rated rail rod can be, In other words , not the 4x , ask mark at Charkbait or someplace like that, say hi to piops O.K. Jeff? Piece out! chk. spelling?

I'm told by those who have fished both that the 4X will be appreciated if you happen to hook up with something a little larger, like one of the Supercows recently taken on the Excel trip.

If it were going to the the first one, and possibly the only one, I'm thinking the 3X and the SDS50 would be the bomb. Just ask Jim Hall. It was all he needed on our November trip to boat that 212.

This is a 6' rod to the best of my knowledge I think it is a xxx not sure.

Also pretty sure this is a 6' rod. Definitely not more than a xxx

Extra 6 inches would have been better, not for shipping on the plane, but fighting the fish. I think getting away from the boat reduces the losses at or around gaff time.

Get bigfoot guides or guides that are wide, the torque on these rods when the fish is at an angle is amazing and knots/connections will do much better through big guides also. There may be a downside to big guides but I am ignorant to them.
