| hidden bank yft Yellow Fin Tuna on the fly, loren
Went out tuesday (9/8) with Randy and Loren. Awesome fishing about 50m south of SD, hidden bank area. Yellow Fin Tuna in the 12-20# range. 11 total. 3 on fly, plus 1 skippie on fly. loren got all the fish on fly except randy also got 1 pig Yellow Fin Tuna on fly too. skippy with curious mola in the background
first stop after a long run down to the numbers finding no patties, and trolling the high spot for no love, we head back up a little an loren spots a empty inflatable raft. inflatable raft
we think dorado, and throw in. hooked up almost right away, double, fish to color and surprise... Yellow Fin Tuna. kept working it and not long later loren calls out hookup on the flyrod. bingo. loren bendo
after 5 or so the fish moved on, so we did too. a little more up the line we spot a couple of boats stopped and as we drive by we see a few birds working so we call out to ask if we can troll the perimeter. they say rather not, there are lots of fish here. so we just let it drift and try again. instant hookup on more Yellow Fin Tuna. worked this drift for 6 more including 3 more on fly. randy bendo
checked a couple kelps on the way in for no love. last stop a big bush with 4 or so boats working. we see dorado in the perimeter, but couldn't get them to go. all bait wasted at this point. tried chunkys, but didn't happen. no big, boat plugged.
back to the islands for cleanup, and feeding the dogs a few scraps.
