I'm not a very experienced fly tier so I keep things simple. The snook in my area seem to respond better to very large profile flies, and so far about the best I can do is a 3/0 seaducer or deciever tied on a mustad signature series tarpon hook. I'm looking for some input on bigger flies, turning them over isn't an issue. I'm just looking for some big 6" - 8" mullet type patterns, and maybe a few pointers on how to bulk up the flies I'm already tying.
try the tabory snake fly that pushes a lot of water also the EP flies have a good profile to them. I think that spun deer hair flies will probably do what you want to do
A topwater hit from a XXL snook is pretty rare in the daytime, and you would have to be pretty brave to fish some of my favorite spots at night when a big surface bug would be most effective. I was kinda hoping to hear from the blue water guys, I'm looking for big subsurface baitfish patterns. I talked to a couple of musky chasers from Minnesota, and they said basically the same thing. I just hate spinning deer hair.
Look up "Bozo" flys. They are made from "Yack" hair. If I have the time in the next few days I post how to make them. Kinda of simple to make but I have 3 days of gulf stream trips in the next 4 days...

Awsome, just whenever you get around to it. I googled "bozo flies" and all I found were a handfull of articles, none of them had illustrations or photos.
Take a look at hollow fleyes by Bob Popovics. If you tie them using a big long shank hook and longest bucktail hairs you can find, you may achieve the size and bulk you are looking for.

Tandem flies are pretty much out of the question, I catch these fish on foot and they like to charge my legs (could be bad). The hollow fleye thing looks fun, I don't have any exceptionally long shanked hooks but I do have a box of 5/0 C70sd's that have been sitting on top of my TV for 2 years. Good excuse to break them out. Thanks again.
