I'd put the thin layer on regardless of thread size...The product turns out nicer IMO...

Ditto, much easier to wrap over no matter what size thread is underneath.

i think you have the verdict, btw i also put a thin layer, oftentimes when using dark colors on the bottom andlight on top helps to mask the dark color on the bottom

Also putting on that thin layer wil help keeping the bubbles to a minimum in the final product.

What everyone before me has said is true but you can do it without putting finish on the under wrap if you are wrapping larger thread over smaller thread with or with out CP on the underwrap.

Re: can i wrap d thread on top of c thread?

Jason,

Like Doc said..Rule of thumb is you can go the same or larger but not smaller. In other words C over A or D over C is no problem..No Need for CP. Come to think of it Haven't used CP in Years..Most thread is NCP...The secret for no bubbles is to use a little heat on your wraps after coating with Flex coat..The heat causes the bubbles to rise and also thins the FC and allows for better penetration into the thread thus reducing the dreaded bubbles. Its old school but works really well.

If you ever need to go with A over say C you will have to use CP or a thin coat of FC.

Good luck on your project.

The other trick is to wrap the top and bottom wraps in opposite directions, so the top wrap threads do not fall into the valleys between threads on the underwrap.

I always put on a thin coat of Flex-Cote Lite before wrapping over thread.
