Rod Wrapping Tech?

Yo, I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I am trying to wrap my first rod and i wanted to know if there is a book i could buy or a sheet with directions somewhere on the net? I dont want to put in a lot of time and effort into a finished product to find out that i didnt sand something, or forgot to do a minor step in the process. You seemed to be pretty knowledgable so i figured i would throw out my question and see if you can help me out. Thanks.

I'm by far, no where near an expert. I do have the benefit of going to Orca's house, or hitting up Bushman, or MANY of the experts here on this site, its not too difficult to start, and there is ALOT you can buy, however, When I started, I enjoyed all the free text and video available at Rod Building 101 mudhole sells a lot of stuff, and the guides here are not that bad.

Re: Rod Wrapping Tech?

in addition to reading up on the subject, you should consider going to the rod classes every wednesday night (see the sticky at the top of the first page "directions for rod building class") to ask your questions and be helped in getting started.

i was there last night and saw one of the guys proudly complete his first rod.

Re: Rod Wrapping Tech?

Dale P Clemens (author) has a great beginers book to learn how to wrap rods. It also has (novice to intermediate) butt wrap designs. Great book!

Re: Rod Wrapping Tech?

Tom Kirkman's, Rod Building Guide, is the best current book on the market. It runs about $15.00. Doc Ski has a video or CD on rod building and both the book and CD may be available from Mark at acidrod.com. You can also go to rodbuilding.org and ask all the questions there that you might have if you don't get the answers here, that you need. There are some of the best rod builders around on this site so just ask and I'm sure they will keep you out of trouble.

Re: Rod Wrapping Tech?

I have been building rods for over 40 years. About two years ago I watched Doc,s vidio and said I wish I had this in the early years. I myself did not learn from it but saw the important value of the vidio for someone starting out. Do yourself a favor.
