| Wow what an experience
I would like to tell you all about someone that you all ready know. I have talked with Doc Ski many an evening, a long night and so many other times. This past week I had a rare opportunity to be Doc's personal Body guard and driver and LIMBO helper (you will have to ask him about that)
My friend and I took Doc fishing on a Wisconsin Lake with his roommates Rocky and Vickie, and another Rod Builder from the UK. Chris Ward, on Tuesday. Even thought Doc did not get a Muskie he did get 4 really nice sized Large mouth bass for his trouble.
Wednesday we headed off to Minneapolis to go to the Rod building Guilds National Conclave. Doc was honored as one the legends of Rod building there, but I am sure you guys already know that he is a Legend on the West coast and in his on minds also, and well deserved.
Thursday through Saturday night we all talked about Rods fishing and Rod building from 6 am central time until LAST call and they kicked us out of the Bar every night. (see LIMBO contest of one from earlier)
Every day for two hours Doc and I would talk about Rod building on the way there and on the way home. It was such a treat to have that much knowledge all to myself for a few days. You guys out there I am sure know how lucky you are. I hope to see you all soon, I will also try to upload some of the pictures from the gathering. If anyone would like more info on the Guild and what we are about please contact Doc or myself any time.

Tom,
Doc is really a 1st class guy. He's helped me out on more than one occasion. I wanted to go to the Conclave (I'm a Guild member too) but just couldn't make it happen. Sounds like you guys had a blast. Maybe next year...Randy.

Randy the LIMBO contest of one was worth the price of the whole trip. But wait I live up here. The only traveling I did was to pick up Doc and run out to the hotel for more weaving and I made my first 7 1/2' two piece two tip HAND plained Bamboo fly rod with the help of Russel Dabney and Dave Norling. I also Gave 6 hours or so of instuctionail seminars on the use of PC Stitch, along with Owen Dares new program for weavers. I was well recieved by the people that want to learn how to make the PC Stitch work for them. I also casted my first Fly rod in the Dinner area one the main floor. I had never cast a fly rod before. You missed so much but keep an eye on the guild board as I am sure the shutter happy people around the area will have a ton of pictures up soon.

Sounds like a lot of fun Tom. I once "limboed" under a 16" bar to win a $20 bar bet. (a LONG time ago) I'll be Doc did the same, holding a beer in each hand, and never spilled a drop!! I'll be waiting for the pics on that one!! Tell us more about the Guild, or maybe you could post a link or two. Did you happen to put any helpful hints for Owen's progam in writing? I haven't downloaded it yet, even though I signed up on his website. I'm looking forward to using it sooner or later.
Hey DOC... where did ya get the funny hat??

There is a help file with it, or you can read the help file at YourProject
If you have any problems after that just give me a yell.
Tom,
Thanks for giving Pic2Weave a mention.
Sounds like the Conclave was a hoot! Sure wish they had stuff like that in Oz. I'd love to come over for one of your shows in the states, but it's just so bloody expensive to travel to the US from here
For the same money as the airfares to the US I could spend a couple of weeks in Fiji catching Giant Trevally and other reef nasties
cheers,
Owen

Thanks Owen.... I went over the help files just after my previous post. That explained a lot. I thought maybe Tom had some "notes" available after his speaking at the conclave. Cool program... I'm looking forward to getting better at it. I'll keep checking your site to get all the "scuttlebut" on the program. Doc hasn't posted on this thread yet, so my guess is he's still "recovering" from his trip!

| Re: Wow what an experience Coming from the land that brought you speedos I feel it is my duty to apologise to humanity in general for the above.
And to join in prayer with the other beach goers...
"Please God.... Don't let it be a thong!"
cheers

Holy Crap !!! There is not enough Rum on earth to get me to do something like that. This exceeds the mental vision I had by a mile. Tom, if I were you I would have some one check my mail before opening it from here on out.
I can envision a poster size copy at the Fred Hall Show though.
