Inlay City

I built this rod for a customer who wanted it to match some other custom rods he had built by someone else a few years back. I'm not sure of the previous builder but these were extremely time-comsuming especially since I had to wrap seven roller guides plus the tip. A bit too busy for my own personal taste but this is what he wanted. All I can say is ROYAL PITA.

Beautiful work! That is amazing how you tie it all together like that. Your transitions are so clean. I like the patterns.

Is that A thread?

Too Cool Randy. doing that many inlays/trim would drive me nuts, But then that is a short drive. Great work Randy.

Re: Inlay City

Beautiful work Randy... looks like a real PITA though. Wonder what it would look like without the white and tan (grey?) colors.

Re: Inlay City

Thank you for all the compliments. I made the mistake of commiting myself before seeing what I had to duplicate. I'm happy with the finished product but this thing took forever. I think the guy wants like 2 or 3 more, YUK.

Ken,
After you said tan I went back and looked at the pics and the gray does look like tan. It was actually medium gray NCP. I'll let you go ahead and wrap one without the white and gray and we'll see how it turns out, . I think I spent a full day just doing the underwraps. Randy.

Re: Inlay City

Nice job. FWIW, this is an obvious "Cali Style" rod.

IF he wants 2 or 3 more...up the price. I don't think he'll blink. NOw it will be worth your time, and if he wants he can go shop around and try to find someone willing to duplicate it...then HOPE they do it as well as you did. IN a few weeks he'll be back...adn you can once again up your price, lol.

Re: Inlay City

My thoughts exactly Billy. I don't mind doing them but I also don't want to short change myself like I did on this one. Live and learn.
