If I'm a fisherman and see something called Rod Building Thing - I assume it's only for Rod Builders and there's nothing there for fishermen so why shoul dI go?

I kind of agree with Billy(pretty smart for a NERB lol) but we need to let the fishermen know it will be a show were many rodbuilders show their tallents not only to get business but to get new builders interested in the craft. How about something alone the lines of Custom Tackle and Trade Show. Even though it is out here I think we should use Western vs West Coast or California so we can draw builders from all over the country. Just think of how great to have a NERBs booth. What a talented group. I would love to see some folks come out of Texas too. I kinda like the WRAP type idea too

Do they have a contest scheduled? That would be a great way for us amatures to get involved and for everyone to see the different types of craftsmanship that is out there. It also would motivate me to build another rod before May!!! Ed F

Okay, I'm rested and back to my senses. Got a little carried away there. lol
Several good points made since my rant.
ICRBE. Wouldn't miss it for the world. I've been the last couple of years and it's invaluable. Awesome display of talent and information flow from some of the best in the world. Billy Vivona, Sean Enders, Mike Joyce, Hiro, etc... I could burn the first day just checking out their stuff.
Good point from Billy on making the name appeal to the fishermen to draw them in. I just don't know about using "Tackle" in the name, because you don't want them to think it's another Fred Hall show. "Custom Rod" should probably be in it somehow.
Contests? I've already thought of a few. A "Best of Show" would be a feather in any builder's cap. "People's Choice" taking votes from and involving all attendees. Best use of Color , Best Grip Set, Best Butt Wrap, etc... A "Casting Contest" is liable to draw fishermen who otherwise might not come.
Billy, if you DON'T come, you at least need to send your Pink Crocs for Doc to wear. lol

Billy wears Crocs!?!?!? See that proves it great(or deranged) minds think alike. Hey we could hand out Blue ribbons like at the fair. I like all the ideas of different catagories. Maybe consider Skill levels too so we can draw a lot of the newer builders. Maybe a Rookie Division. If contests are held it would be necessary to either send in entries early or pass out the ribbons early so all the people coming get to see the awards.

Contest are a great idea, but people have to be prepared to have their feelings/egos hurt/bruised. At least within the Rodbuilding community, I think it might draw a lot of interest especially with all the rodbuilders out in Cali. Someone could sponsor it and have a rod rack or 2 with all the entries and allow people to vote. Should be a nice draw to someone's booth, I would think.
Plus I could take the back to NY, lol.

Hey Billy,
Lets keep the ("a") and accept "all the fat asses" - lol, lol. That's how I got mine, I think! Sitting at my wrapping lathe all these years.
