Re: Harnells and history

Good stuff right there Doc, but the first 2 pics were red X's, what do you know of an old 5 foot white fiberglass rod with a wood butt ? it was my grandpops and doesn't have any markingd left on it, I inherited it some 30 yrs ago, the guides have since fallen off and I have them in a vacuseal bag. origional wrapping was red over white, nothing fancy

That appears to be your typical "deckhand special". Cork tape, turks heads, SS guides and black on black wrapping. Thanks for sharing. I hope we see more.

Re: Harnells and history

Very cool pics DocSki. I just checked one of my rods that was my Grandpa's and it's a Harnell. It's in really good condition. It's a 7ft fiberglass rod, wooden handle, white rubber foregrip, Aftco roller guides, and rated at 45lbs. My nephew caught his fist Albacore on this rod in 2002.

Re: Harnells and history

Now that is the kind of picture I was looking for. That is really a nice piece of Americana. The spiral boys would love that picture too. Displays perfectly what they talk about.
