Question Flex Coat Curing Time

Sorry for this simple question regarding flex-coat curing time! However, I was wondering how long you have to wait (after the flex-coat epoxy) has dried/cured before fishing with a rod? I re-wrapped an old-rod for practice, coated all wraps with Flex-Coat color preserver, and after that dried...put on a few coats of low-build Flex-coat.

It was completely dry within 24 hours, but I was wondering how long the rod needs to "rest" before being used (fished with)?

Thanks a million!

Re: Flex Coat Curing Time

Vic, I don't know if there is a specific time needed, but I have fished with rods that I had put the last layer of FC on the night before. No adverse affects, but I'd be careful just in case the finish may still be soft.

Re: Flex Coat Curing Time

I think 24 hours is plenty good enough if the rod dried in normal temps. If you do your finish work in cooler temps you might have to let it sit a couple days. Go Fishing and remember you have to catch something to stress the finish. That is why I can go fishing while the finish is still drying.

Re: Flex Coat Curing Time

Thank You very much for your reply and suggestions! I truly appreciate it...and will post a pic or two of my re-wrapped rod when it's done.

I agree with DocSki as well...a good recommendation to stress the rod out with a nice catch!
