Red face Browning Silaflex

I just bought an old rod at a pawn shop that turned out to be a Silaflex according to the guys at SavOn Tackle. It's a great looking rod, about 9', a great tip for throwing small baits. It was wrapped as a spinning rod, but I'm having it stripped down and I will probably rewrap it as a conventional bait stick. Does anyone know anything about Silaflex rods? Is there a website I could jump on to get more information?

I have all my grandpas siloflex's in the garage. Like 20 of them or so. Don't know much about them though. I caught a lot of fish on them when I was growing up.

Re: Browning Silaflex

If it says magnum on it, it has some resale value. Otherwise I heard they're good halibut sticks. If you have a silaflex magnum you want to unload send me a pm, i'm interested. Thanks

Re: Browning Silaflex

Magnum's has faster action and they shut off about 1/3 from the tip, compared to the non magnums' which bend like a U. You have one for sale?

No sorry. I'm still fishing mine. The rest of them are noodles compared to the magnum! My grandfather custom wrapped all of them so I'm holding on to them... He used to wrap for Leucadia Bait and Tackle way back when.

Re: Browning Silaflex

i used to have the PT 67 and PT 70<?>. got rid of 'em to some nostalic freak. too parabolic and no personality. built 'em for the surf before 100% graphite was a big thing <back in the 70's>. now with all the new fangled 100% graphite blanks around, you can feel everything. i'd dump 'em for hi tech!

IN 1952 MY DAD BOUGHT 2 SILAFEX RODS. AN MT65R FOR HIMSELF AND AN MT75R FOR MY 12TH BIRTHDAY. MINE HAD A PENN 200 REEL WITH 27# WESTERN HOT STRETCH GREEN NYLON LINE. I HAD THE ROD REWRAPED IN 1973 AND THE DUMMIES DID IT WITH SPINING GUIDES. ISTILL HAVE BOTH RODS AND I SHOULD HAVE THE MT75R REWRAPED SOME DAY, IT IS A 9 FOOT ROD WITH THE 18 INCH BUTT. NICE ROD.
