5th Try - this rod is killing me!!!

This now makes the 5th time I have wrapped and then taken apart this blank. I just run into one foul up after another with this rod. Glad it's for me and not a customer! Here's the parade of horribles:

1. Hypalon foregrip was loose - had to redo.

2. Next try the grip was fixed - colors were shitty. Had to redo.

3. Redid it again - finish woudln't set up - got tacky and wouldn't harden - after many fix attempts. Had to redo.

4. Had to SAND everythign off this time - rewrapped in very sparkly metallics - Color Preserver turned white metallic thread a lime green!!! Had to redo.

5. Finally - I think I am gonna stick with this one;

CALSTAR 760 M blank. American Tackle Chrome Turbo guides with Blue ring inserts. Hypalon front and back...PACBAY silver reel seat and gimble. Got tired of messing with this blank and just decided to go basic. RED, BLUE, BLACK and TAN. Here's how it looks so far.

PS: I'm gonna sell or give this freaking rod away! It is an albatross around my neck! ! ! ! LLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Re: 5th Try - this rod is killing me!!!

Uh-oh...what have I started.

Warning...this rod is haunted, I am near certain that before I am finished with it something will have either:

A. Come loose

B. Changed colors

C. Misaligned somehow, or

D. Just turned ugly

But so far it is looking good! Just checked on it in the garage drying and so far all is well!

Gettin' on winter time. If room temp was cold & ya didn't thin the 2 parts with a bit of heat it's possible you didn't get a 50/50 mix.

No real need for CP on metallics.

Water base CP turns white under finish if it's not completely dry. If the room is cold it will extend drying time.

5. Finally - I think I am gonna stick with this one;

Looks pretty nice to me!
