First Post... Howdy!

Hi. I'm Rick AKA Fishslayer from SanDawg. Some of ya probly know me from several other boards. Always glad to see another rodbuilding board. I've learned more in the last couple years on the internet than, well, a long time...

Rick here's a tip. Don't build a 6' 20-50lb halibut stick. I just learned that ! Welcome to bd.

Thanks for the welcome

6' 20-50 pound for halibut? You must be one of those chain draggin' bounce ballin' power trollers I've been hearing about! Supposed to be a mighty effective technique.

I'm kinda old school. I like long & soft for 'buts. My favorite 'but rod at the moment is an old '70's Sabre 800 I found at a swap meet & rewrapped. It still has the Varmac seat & "slippery when wet" rubber grips...

Rick, hit up those handles with some medium sanding screen. Works wonders on old rods.

I blame it on my rod wrapper. I'm sticking with my Calstar 690J. Long and soft just like the butt likes it.
