| Finding the spine
Several guys have asked me so I figured I'd do my best to explain it here. It is really easy and nothing to be intimidated by.
There are other methods but this is just what works for me.
Take the blank and put the butt on a smooth surfaced floor or table. In your left hand cradle the tip section (4-12" from the tip) by making a V with your thumb and forefinger. You want the rod at about a 60 degree angle to the floor or table.
Put a good bend in the blank by applying downward pressure with the palm of your right hand.
At the same time (while maintaining pressure) roll the blank across the flat surface.
You will find that the rod will kind of hesitate then jump to its natural spine.
Mark the spot with a grease pencil and try several more times to confirm.
I then put the guides along the top of the spine.
That is it.
