Fixing @ super seeker 80H

I built a super seeker 80H to fish (40#) bait with on a 10 day trip I recently took. While loading rod into the truck, I broke about 6" off the tip, & my 80H is now a 75H, its action has obviously stiffened up a bit, (Guess thats what ya get putting a 8'-0 rod in a 7'-6 truck cab. )

Its now more of a 50(+)# stick, & is quite a bit stiffer than my 700H. This is all fine & good as it now fits in the rack on the boat, where @ 8'-0 it was too long to fit & needed to go up on top. ( gotta look at the positive side right )

Im thinking it would make a good wahoo bomb/jig stick, 7'-6 length, w/ a nice stiff tip. Pair it up w/ an Avet HX, or trinidad 40N

My only concern is that it is currently wrapped as a jig stick w/ cork tape.

Will this still be OK ( without a reel seat ) for this 50# application that I plan on using it for ??

Or should I put a reel seat on it & if so, any suggestions for getting a reel seat & hypalon on it without having to remove guides & re-wrap ??

Anyone fish 50# corktape type rods ??

Any comments appreciated, thanks

Your fine. People use 50# on corktape for slinging jigs all the time. I say put some cold shrink tube near the top half of the grip in case you end up using the rail.

If he were alive still, I would suggest asking Carl Newell. He did it all the time for wahoo and big tuna. Not cows, but big tuna. 100 lbs. plus.....More stress there than wahoo could ever do.
