| Which rod for a Penn Baja Special
I'm looking into picking up a couple of Penn Baja Specials and I'm thinking of buying a couple of calstar blanks to match them up with. I've only built one rod and it was a Calstar GFX700L. So my knowledge is very limited. Would the GFX700M or H be a good match? What other blanks would be a good match. I'll be using them for casting and jigging iron.

For throwing iron I would use a 8' blank minimum. 6470, 670, GF800M, or GF800H

I assume you mean that you will be using it to yoyo a jig. For that I would go with with the Calstar 700H. You will want a shorter rod to yoyo with than to fish a surfice iron.

In the Calstar line the 700MH would be a good choice for 40#.

I have 2 Specials, one on a 6470H and one on a 700H. Not sure which i like better. The 6470H definitely has more backbone.
