Long Range Line-up Complete

First of all, I'd like to say thanks to all on this board who helped me out on these projects to get ready for my first long range trip (10 day on the Intrepid starting 11/4.) This is such a great site and I've had a great experience getting feedback from everyone regarding rod building questions; blank choice, guide selection, layout, you name it. I've learned an awful lot here. The super seekers are all black on black w/ silver trim & the Calstar w/ black on black. Big thanks to The Rod Rack in Hayward, CA for guidance & furnishing the components; a great shop. Well here they are:

SS-CJBF 708 (20#); Fuji DP series reel seat w/ Fuji BHNLG guides

Not a heck of a lot you can say ,,, they look good and they look black!
I like the grip basketweave. In general, I like cord anyway.
All of them being new, you might want to stress test them all and check that all the guide inserts are tight, before jumping on a 10 day.
And to keep them nice and easier to clean up later, put a coat of Aerospace 303 on them.

I say well done. It looks to me like you did a very nice job, very clean and simple and elegant. I hope your work results in a load of fish.

Beautiful job on all the sticks! Nicely matched components, and you did an awesome job on the cord grips! You'll love that btg 90J! Have a great trip ( I did the same trip with the Rod Rack two years ago) and catch lots of cows! Say hi to Steve, Glenn, and the rest of the gang.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The pictures basically suck; next time I'll have to do some outside shots or provide better lighting. Going to do some clothes-pin test casting today on the 50# than it's time to pack em' up. I've got my rod building stuff in storage now, for an upcoming move, so I'm slowly getting my life back -rod building being an addictive hobby is an understatement. Will post results of trip upon return.

The CJBF70H is built as a rail rod w/ tarred sieners cord over double wrapped 1/16" cork tape. I used a couple lite coats of water base (varathane) diamond-spar varnish, thinned w/ alcohol, over the cord to give a little more durability; it almost worked like a color preserver and gave the cord a nice uniform black color. The seiners cord is pretty tough stuff & I think it will hold up pretty well on the rail.
