a GUSA predator might do the job. 7 foot 50-80 pound line rating, thin and light.

The Phenix Black diamond series is at the top of my list for toughness
they are not quite at the top of the lightness list , but they ain't heavy either.
The Phenix Hybrid is lighter and has more solid lifting power in the butt, but that comes at the price of toughness ie stress at the top of the Kevlar reinforcement.
The Hybrid has not been around long enough to establish a reputation , but it sure looks good.
One measure of toughness is posts about breakage while fishing...............posts anywhere............Phenix don't make the news on that aspect. They are tough.
I'll trade a 1/2 oz of blank weight in a jigging rod for toughness anyday.

Phenix rods were designed with the jig fisherman in mind hence the parabolic feel even on the heavier rods, the Hybrid series is even lighter then the black diamond. Jigging master blanks if you can get them are surely killer, but you will pay the price.I havent seen the seeker rods yet so cant say but I have read on other forums they arent parabolic enough for actual jigging, but they are strong as hell Seeker modeled them after the gusa challenger line blanks with a few adjustments per Billys instructions.
the jaws blanks are nice and inexpensive so it is up to your personal taste.

I just wonder if he is maybe confusing the Asian style (butterfly) vertical jigging with the throwing (6x's) of jigs we generally do out here.
As for the Hercules blanks, I have seen a couple already on the for sale used lists on the 360tuna site, not sure why but already being sold used nonetheless.

I'm not confused, I know the difference in the stlyes! I'm looking for a vertical jigging rod, but at 7' 6" I think the Jaws could be casted a little ways if necessary.
