My first rod second time around
Hey so i my first build was and acid wrap 100j wich look somewhat alright but in the last week i started to read the tutorials on the rod builders library and it had tons of helpfull information on it so ive dicided to strip my 100j one guide at a time and do it over here are some pics the firs one is how my rod originally look the second one is a picture of the guide wrapp and the finall two is how my rod is going to look i just one your oppinion on the the under wrapps
I know that you said to comment on the under warps, but...
Your bottom pic under wrap looks fine, but when you put the guide on next time, you may want to make the wrap on each side of the guide foot the same.
Not necessary of course...and if that is how you wanted it --I take back my comment. Having it your way is both the saying at Burger King, and custom rod building.

Thats how i did it the first time the pic you quoted this next pic is how im doing it the second time let me know what you think
The underwrap looks good - the burnishing is tight. If it was me, I would make the guide wraps a bit longer - run them more towards the end of the underwrap, but that's just my opinion.

Night & day difference between first & second! I agree with Matt about wrapping the black further out reducing the width of the pink area but hey, if that look works for you that's all good.! Well done!
It's seeing posts like this that makes the time & expense put into The Rod Builder's Library website by myself, the other tutorial authors & monitary contributors worth every minute and every dime. We are happy to see it's being used and is doing some good for our craft. Thank you!
Vastly improved Jesus. You're a quick learner. Practice is always the best teacher. I'd agree with the others comments about the length of the guide wrap and also suggest that you make your trim bands a little narrower as well. Think of the wrap as a composition as if you were painting a picture. Keep up the good work.

thanks to all of you for the coments im am going to make the guide wraps longer ill post pic tonight after i get out of work
On your fist attempt at the rod what did you use for the white section? Did you just use NCP white and that's it or did you paint the blank white underneath as well? The white part came out really nice and I'm going to be doing some white on an up-coming project.

You have to be proud of how that turned out. Look how far you have come. Bet you still learned a few things!
I just re-did one. I should have started my layout at the tip with the smallest trim bands I could handle and then added a wrap or two as the guides increased in size. Live and learn.
