Purely personal preference, I do not find the grey on black visually pleasing. The LRSG's are much sexier. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Hardloys. Good, strong guide for the money, I've built several sticks with them in the past with no issues. JMO.

Damn Jon, you are right. I just mapquested it, it will add an extra 100ml to my trip. Looks like the MXJ will be left at home this trip.

Problem solved. Oddly the SX base/foot, whatever it's called, is slightley wider than the mxj, and just fits the reel seat. So I took the base/foot off one of my SX's and put it on the MXJ. Now the reel fits on the rod.
