Blank For Cobe Rod

I'm looking into getting a rod made for cobia, something around 9ft. I'm going to be fishing mainly off piers but if i can find a calm day to go hunt for rays in my boat i will. Probably going to put a Penn 550ssg on the rod to keep things light. Most likely will fish around 30lb braid. I've thrown batsons, gator glass', loomis', and lamis and have no preference I just can drop $200+ on a lami or loomis blank. Right now Im looking at the batson SU1088, would this be a good choice?

I don't have much experience with any of the blanks you mention. I would choose a super seeker baby Ulua cut down off of the butt or a CBJF90 - that's my personal preference.

X Generation is near you and sells rainshadow blanks. Best to call and see if they have that particular one.

snookslayer, i have the 1088 blank email me ray@rsheker.com and perhaps some other blanks you might want to wiggle.
the 1089 is too beefy for an x rap, except if you can find a 3 ounce x rap.
it can throw 3 ounce and even 3.5, it doesnt throw well with 1oz down. sweetspot is around 2.5

I don't think you can go wrong with Batson. My choice would be the Rainshadow RCJB106ML. I have built several rods in this series and have been nothing but impressed. I built one for my neighbor for a cobia (ling in TX) rod and he loves it. Good luck.
