Rod Building Videos

If you have never got the chance to watch an old school Pro rod builder in action here is your chance.

I just uploaded 2 videos to my Rod Builder's Library website. Watch Frank Altenkirch spine a blank, install the grips & seat, & apply finish after his daughter wraps a guide.

The Altenkirch's family business has been around going on 80 years now!

Enjoy,

Unfortunately they are 30min videos so the files are quite LARGE!

the videos are on the bottom page.

I should also mention that when I tested the download it was much faster to save the file to my PC and watch it instead of opening the file via the webpage to watch it. I have a fast connection and it still took more than a few minutes to "open" the file on the page.

I grew up in my summers and lived in Southampton full time in high school. Altenkirch's was our go to spot for our bait and tackle. Not only was it the best tackle shop on eastern Long Island, it was also the only one...I think about half of Long Island has a rod from these guys...

Wanted to watch, but file too big to watch at work, I'll check it out at home.

Thanks Raymond. I'll be sure to watch when I get home, no streaming video at work. I guess I should be working anyways. As others have said, thanks for the awesome website and thanks to all the people that put their tutorials on there. Between that site and this forum there's a shit load of information for someone new to the craft.

Hey Ray, thanks for posting those. If you want to read something interesting go to their web page and look at the past articles especially the one from 1962. Cool reading. Randy.

Thanks Raymond. I noticed that the girls on the video are wrapping with the thread on the other side of the blank. Steve T. will notice this as well....Backwards wrapping is the only way to go! lol
