| Rollers vs. Turbo Guides
The more I read, the more it seems that there is a shift from roller guides to the titanium turbo guides.
Is this true or am I just imagining things?
I am currently compiling components for:
SS 2x4 (2)
SS 63XXH
SS 63 XXXH
SS 63 XXXXH
Any component suggestions would be helpful. Thanx!

With braided line your rod and guides arent popping around like with mono. You dont need rollers, but they do have their place. You are not going to lose a fish because you didnt have rollers.
For heavy rods, i like the Forecast SU guides. Body looks similar to Fuji USG but has TiO insert instead of SiC which is also not necessary. There are so many components out there and none of them can replace good fishing technique.
I never landed a tuna over 200# but ive lost two (or more ??). The first one was after a 45 minute battle and i lost him in the screws, my fault, and crew probably should have had my short body out of the harness at that stage. The other spooled my 50W and pulled the hook right as we were going to throw the rig in the water. Neither had anything to do with the guides, although both of those fish were lost on rods with rollers.
Go with what you like, fish it, and make it happen. Post pics of your builds.

Any component suggestions would be helpful. Thanx! | SS 2x4 Fuji Hnsg guides
SS 63XXH Aftco #47-#51-2x#41-#31
SS 63XXXH Aftco Wind-on # 47 2x #22 2x shd32
SS 63XXXXH same as the XXXH..
No Unibutt on the SS63XXH use the plastic butt acid rod sells the rod will perform better..More recoil.......I dont like Unibutt on any SS Stand-up blanks ..I feel it cut back on the amt of recoil...

Really the only time you need rollers for the rods you mentioned is on a trolling rod. Simply because trollers get banged around pretty good. At least mine do. The Titan Turbos fro AmTak will cast better. Of all the 2X4's I've made, none have been with rollers. Oh, and I've had zero guide failures with the Titans, as well...

| fuji blrlg guides in action
here are some fuji turbo guides with the hardloy rings...these rods have been banged up and bent over for 7 years now...no failures...I do recommend a roller tip...the one in the pic is a calstar 6455xxh cut down
to a blank length of 51" mounted in a ub4 bentbutt
fuji guides 25,20,16,12,12, aftco b.b. 316 roller tip...these are hawaiian style...never leaves the rod holder...460 marlin tugging on the other side of a tiagra 80...45lbs of drag at pic time...

I have three of those four blanks built into finished rods for myself, although the 6463XXH is a Black Steel Blank. Starting with that one, I built it well before the trend to titanium turbo guides began. I used a nice set of All American roller guides on it. (1) #5 (2) #4 and (4) #3. Looks great and I like the clearance in these guides. Small in size and weight but plenty of line clearance.
My 2 X 4 was built with a set of the Titan Turbo guides and I this for a layout: 25, 20, 16, 16, 12, 12, 10, 10, with a 14 UST Fuji tip.
The 6463XXXH was built with roller guides using the same set that Seeker uses which is a WO #47, HD #51, then 2 ea #41 and #31. Another possibility is to go straight HD guides, 51, 41, 41, 41 or 31, then 3 more 31.
Here's some pics of the 2 X 4 and the XXXH

Seeker builds the SS Stand-up with the W/O 47 guide to keep the line off the grip..The other reason is there is no line resistance with roller guides..
If you not going to use a W/O 47 you need to use a guide with the same hight..
If you have questions you can call Seeker they will help you ..
I build SS CTSF stand-up rods different than their blacksteel or black classic..
Also a Calstar is a complety different rod blank...Apples & Oranges..
