| can someone build me a rod?
I'd like a custom rod with the following components-
a calstar baja boomer blank
a set of silver big foot rollers (52,42,32,32 and tip-14)
aftco silver 3 reel seat
aftco silver 3 gimbal
aftco silver 3 tuna block (in front of reel seat)
16" hypalon foregrip
8" hypalon, or slickbutt reargrip (preferably slickbutt)
I'd like the finished length to be no more than 5'6", for a smooth transition between the rear grip the gimbal and the reel seat, and for the rollers to be triple wrapped in black, with a seafoam underwrap, and outerbands... So, what's the cheapest someone can do this for me? How difficult would It be for me to build it myself?
Need replys asap... I plan to buy tomorrow!
Alec

There are dozens of builders on this board who can do an excellent job for you but you should look into one of the classes going now to build your own. It is not hard and it seems money is a pretty large issue to you so you surely cant get a more economical build than doing your own. Guarantee it aint rocket science.

Alec | If you decide not to build yourself, Give me a call and I'll email you and estimate. If you want to do it yourself, Contact Orca and go to his weekly class, There's plenty of "Know How" there and myself and probably a few others here would be happy to help walk you through it as you progress

Well, I got a quote for around $350 for this rod with rsg guides, shipped from dave at armbreaker rods... but, when I asked for the rollers ($10 more than the guides), for less than $350, he told me to go elsewhere. So, can someone possibly do this for just over $300 shipped? Is there some way to cut corners, without getting rid of the rollers, to make the rod cheaper?

I would agree with the guys suggesting that you should try it yourself. I don't know how much some of the more professional rod builders on here pay for components, but you could make yourself a sweet rod for $300 and gain an awesome hobby in the process.
I started last December just thinking I would make myself a nice live bait rod and only make rods when I needed something. Well, I did the live bait rod and since December I've made myself 5 rods and a couple for my dad, two for my brother, and I made 3 for "customers". I highly doubt that you would regret trying it yourself and the bonus is that you will be able to make it exactly the way you want it.
