I have perhaps thirty of Mr. Comedie's wraps out there now, and here is an update, and some pics.
I put some on my pro staff's rods, that they pass around to their friends--so they only get about one day off a week.
I can say with confidence that the under layer of epoxy is bulletproof; I would say as durable as a wrapped epoxy coated guide. No yellowing (yet) but I also thought of doing this:
Making the top mono layer replaceable if it happens to get damaged, or yellows after a year or so.
I got this idea after taking one apart. Dave thought that I was putting on too much epoxy on the base before I wrapped the mono on the still tacky epoxy. He was right. Now instead of having to cut the mono if (if need be), I can just cut one end, and unwind the mono and the epoxy without damaging the bottom thread work.
Anywhoo, here are some CKW's:

Those neon looking blues, purples, and greens are NOT metallic thread--regular nylon.

Light up just like a billfish.

This is a paying (not test prostaff) rod, and he say the CKW and had to have it. Just in case, I built up heavy epoxy ramps to insure that the mono is there for good...

This is the pink scaled reelseat I posted before.

Finally, not a CKW, but another example of a "shaded" tiger--three colors of base wrap, black nylon, silver Justice, and the bright Rice silver.
